    Research Overview

My research is characterized by interdisciplinary collaboration with specialists in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), urology, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, gynecology, pulmonology, wound care, and wheelchair seating, both in clinical settings and through involvement in interdisciplinary clinics. I have participated in Model Systems Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Care System research initiatives and contributed to team-based research efforts. In addition to publishing textbook chapters in physiatry and related fields, my primary research interests include spinal cord injury/disorder (SCI/D) and its sequelae—particularly neurogenic bowel and bladder dysfunction, respiratory failure, pressure injuries, wheelchair seating, and community reintegration. I am also engaged in research on spinal cord regeneration and peripheral nerve transfers for SCI/D.
