Leading advances in musculoskeletal health for all, through excellence and innovative patient care, scientific discovery and dedicated teaching.
Orthopedics has been part of the U-M Medical School's rich medical tradition since 1873, when U-M faculty housing was converted into the University's first hospital. Over the years, the department has expanded, evolved and embodied the latest technological and scientific advancements, and we will continue to embrace our roles as leaders in the field as we transform the future of musculoskeletal care.
Our department’s team approach to DEI includes a monthly newsletter highlighting our events, seminars, clubs, committees, mentorships and more. From programming to planning to everyday decisions, we’re committed to breaking down implicit bias and delivering truly inclusive medical care.
Michigan Medicine is committed to using our academic strength and resources to make the world a better place, and our deeply established tradition of philanthropy makes this possible. Whether you contribute to research initiatives, equipment needs, or educational programs, there are many opportunities for meaningful gifts at every dollar level.
I have been so energized by the great people in orthopedics, the work we do, the people we help, and the places we are going!
