Residency director Dr. Yolanda Helfrich and fellowship director and Chair Dr. Christopher Bichakjian delivered opening remarks, reflecting on the journey and accomplishments of our graduates. Dr. Bichakjian praised the Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology graduates for their dedication and resilience, giving them each a moment to speak. Following this, Dr. Helfrich acknowledged each graduating resident, sharing stories from their training and honoring the achievements that helped them reach this significant milestone. Graduates expressed gratitude to their co-residents and dermatology faculty and highlighted their experiences at the University of Michigan.

Adding a fun element to the event, second-year residents and rising co-chief residents, Drs. Anne Ning and Giselle Guerrero presented humorous recognition awards and keepsakes to the graduating seniors.

The Dermatology Residency Class of 2024 honored Dr. Jennifer Swearingen with the department’s William B. Taylor Resident Teaching Award for Best Resident Educator. Although Dr. Swearingen could not attend, her contributions were celebrated and our residents expressed their appreciation, "We are so grateful to have had the privilege of learning from Dr. Swearingen over the past few months, and we are so lucky to have her as an addition to our faculty. Her commitment to patient care is an inspiration to us all. And we are so appreciative of the way she cares about us as individuals. Thanks so much for going above and beyond to support us!"
