Dr. Durgin’s T32-supported research focuses on the biology of the folliculosebaceous unit, with particular attention to the sebaceous gland and its role in acne vulgaris. In the lab of Dr. Sunny Wong, he is applying state of the art spatial transcriptomics to characterize the influence of sebum on keratinocyte differentiation and dysfunction in acne vulgaris and to study tumor-immune interactions in basal cell carcinoma.
