Clinician-Research Scholar
My vision for achieving a well-rounded, successful career as a clinician educator, was to strive to provide
clinically excellent care to my patients, high quality education to learners and be actively engaged in seeking
new knowledge through research activity. My goal was to do all of this while being of service to the world.
The first part of my career has been aimed at learning, refining, and then applying skills towards these
goals. The initial 5-7 years of my career were primarily spent in the clinician educator realm, the past 5 have
seen me spend an increasing amount of time in the clinician research scholar space. These pathways have
allowed me to create a unique academic emergency medicine career that has allowed me to educate
students, trainees, fellows, faculty, and staff on two different continents. My research initiatives around the
creation of emergency medicine capacity have grown to include traumatic brain injury in Ghana and other
acute presentations of pathology to the emergency department. These have led me to being recognized
both nationally and internationally.
