    Dr. Birnbaum is a Licensed Psychologist with the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Psychology at the University of Michigan Health. He holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Amherst College, a master’s degree in education from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education, and a PhD in school psychology from Michigan State University. Dr. Birnbaum completed a pre-doctoral internship and a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan Health in Integrated Behavioral Health. Dr. Birnbaum works in the Integrated Behavioral Health program and provides clinical services to children, adolescents, and their families.

    He specializes in treating pediatric problems regarding ADHD, behavior management, anxiety, depression, school functioning, toileting, sleep, picky eating, tics and habits, family conflict, and other related concerns

    Research Overview

    Dr. Birnbaum's research had previously been focused on analyzing the effectiveness of assessments for individuals with disabilities and behavioral challenges. His current research initiatives are aimed at understanding and improving the patient experience within the integrated behavioral health model and assessing the differences between virtual and traditional face-to-face care.
