    Dr. Dewar is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan. Dr. Dewar provides clinical care in the outpatient, inpatient as a geriatric consultant, serving as an Associated Medical Director and in the nursing home setting to older adults with multimorbidity and frailty. She also is an attending physician at the VA Ann Arbor health system. She is board certified in Obesity Medicine (ABOM) and is a clinical researcher with a focus on improving multi-morbidity, function, mobility and quality of life of older adults with obesity. She is the founder and developed of a weight management clinic at the University of Michigan called “Optimal Health Weight and Lifestyle Clinic” and has extended this to the VA Ann Arbor Health System. She has presented her work during previous presidential Abstracts and delivered lectures at AGS meetings in this content area. She has studied the impact of obesity in postacute care setting looking at postacute outcomes. Her other research involves scoping the issues around late referrals to hospice in aging older adults with obesity. She was the inaugural recipient of the Albert G. and Olive H. Schlink Foundation Clinician Scholars Award. She led the effort towards recognition of Michigan Medicine as an Age Friendly Health System.
