    Dr. Richard Cohan is Professor Emeritus of Radiology at the University of Michigan, Department of Radiology. He has an impressive career spanning almost 40 years; over 30 spent at UMHS. Dr. Cohan began his career in Radiology at Duke University (1985-1990) and later as Chair at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia (1990-1992). He made the move to the University of Michigan Health System, Department of Radiology in 1992 as faculty at both the Medical Center and at the Veterans Administration Ann Arbor Healthcare System (VAAAHS).

    Dr. Cohan has a proven dedication to teaching & education demonstrated by his ongoing commitment to University of Michigan Medical Center's Radiology Residency Program where he served as Program Director from 1992-2004 and continued as Associate Chair for Education for 1998 - 2017.

    Dr. Cohan is also a respected expert on the topic of radiographic contrast media. He served on the Committee on Drugs and Contrast Media with the American College of Radiology (2004-2022), has authored/co-authored numerous journal articles on the subject and was one of the founders of the Annual Contrast Media Reaction Course at the University of Michigan Radiology Department. The yearly program began in 2005 and is now a 2-week training course consisting of lectures & workshops and is mandated training for all Radiology residents, fellows, and PA's.
