Dr. James Cooke is a Professor of Learning Health Sciences and Family Medicine at the University of Michigan and serves as the Executive Director of the Clinical Simulation Center. He is an active family physician practicing both inpatient and outpatient family medicine at Michigan Medicine, and has worked in health professions education at all levels, including undergraduate, graduate and continuing medical education. He also served as the Residency Program Director for the UM Department of Family Medicine. Dr. Cooke has collaborated with colleagues in anesthesiology, cardiology, computer science, emergency medicine, industrial and operations engineering, mechanical engineering, pulmonology, and surgery on a number of studies surrounding skills-based training and assessment for healthcare professionals, utilizing virtual reality and 3D printing for the development of novel simulators, utilizing simulation to improve safety for patients and providers and best practices for simulation in health professions education.
