Swap and shop: 3 events and new campus site aid research equipment exchange
A series of swap events, and a new swap shop now open on Central Campus, have led to the collection and exchange of hundreds of items, which often are acquired by labs to realize costs savings in their areas. They also support UMMS and U-M waste-reduction goals, which are part of an overall sustainability strategy. Most of the items now go to labs that need them, rather than to a landfill

A new teaching tool, Radar, is helping teams improve their shared decision-making skills in educational and patient settings. Innovator Vitaliy Popov is receiving funding and support through the RISE Innovation Development Program. The project was originally funded through the Center for Interprofessional Education.

A medical student and surgery faculty member studied the longevity of depression symptoms developed by first-year resident trainees. With their findings now published, they hope to use this data to destigmatize conversations about physician mental health and pave the way for better cultural and institutional support.

For 171 medical students who will be cloaked at the White Coat Ceremony on July 21, their journey will begin when they cross the stage in Hill Auditorium. This time on stage and communing with their classmates, deans, faculty and staff, will cap a day of celebration that welcomes the incoming Class of 2024 to the profession, to the community, and to the University of Michigan Medical School.
