Ruma Banerjee, PhD, to lead the basic biomedical research cluster of M-PACT

The University of Michigan and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) will jointly invest $79 million to recruit and support a large cohort of diverse faculty members as part of a nationwide effort to enhance inclusion and equity across the biomedical and health sciences community. The Michigan Program for Advancing Cultural Transformation (M-PACT) will launch this fall and aims to recruit 30 new assistant professors across 11 schools, colleges and units into three interdisciplinary research clusters: social and behavioral research, basic biomedical research and clinical-translational research. Ruma Banerjee, a current co-director of the ASBMB MOSAIC program to support the career development of scientists from diverse backgrounds, will lead M-PACT's basic biomedical research cluster.
