Bringing PIBS to you

We want to bring U-M and PIBS to you. Every year we hit the road in search of the most highly qualified and diverse student population to enroll in PIBS and eventually find a home in one of our 14 PhD programs. Find us on our campus, on the road or online to learn more about our programs, research and faculty. PIBS Preview

Are you interested in pursuing a PhD in the biomedical sciences? Would you like to preview graduate training at the University of Michigan, one of the largest and most vibrant research communities in the country?

PIBS Preview will be in person and on campus this Fall, 2024 from October 2nd - 4th! U-M PIBS covers the cost of travel, lodging, and food for all invited Preview attendees. Selected attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn more about applying to graduate school, the interview process, and life as a grad student
  • Meet with faculty, current students, and more
  • Practice exploring graduate programs and interviewing with faculty in a digital landscape

Open an online application and submit the following materials by July 31, 2024:

  • Application Form
  • Research Statement
  • Personal Statement
  • Most recent copy of transcripts (can be unofficial)
  • CV/Resume
  • Letter(s) of recommendation (1 required to submit your application, can request up to 2)

To be eligible, students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and plan on starting graduate school in Fall 2025 or Fall 2026. Feel free to contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions.

Summer Research Open House

Explore Research Opportunities at Michigan!

If you are interested in exploring graduate and/or postbaccalaureate training in the biomedical sciences, consider attending our Summer Research Open House to learn more about the Program in Biomedical Sciences (PIBS), Postbac Research Education Program (U-M PREP), and the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP).

This year's PIBS/MSTP/PREP Summer Research Open House will take place in person on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 10:30 am – 1 pm (EDT) in Palmer Commons.

This event is free and open to the public. We ask that all attendees register in advance by completing the RSVP form. Lunch will be served. Attendees can expect to:

  • Learn more about biomedical research and postbac/graduate training at the University of Michigan
  • Receive advice on applying to graduate school
  • Enjoy break out sessions with representatives from the PhD programs that comprise PIBS, as well as U-M PREP, MSTP, student organizations, and more
