Dr. Lautner-Csorba is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Michigan, and the head of the Thrombogenicity lab within the Bartlett ECLS laboratory. She joined the Department in 2022. She was trained as a biochemical and biomedical engineer with chemistry background. She has over 13 years of experience in life science research. She started working on nitric oxide related projects as a postdoctoral fellow under the mentorship of Dr. Meyerhoff in 2017, then she joined Dr. Bartlett’s laboratory, where she received training in extracorporeal life support (ECLS) research technologies, basic rabbit surgery techniques and in general animal care and management.
She has been part of the organizing committee for the Research Faculty Seminar Series (RFSS, since 2023) and a committee member of the Research Advisory Committee (RAC, since 2023), the Research Faculty Advisory Council (RFAC, since 2024) and the Faculty Inclusion Network (FIN, since 2024).

    Research Overview

Dr. Lautner-Csorba's research focus includes the development of biomedical devices, anti-thrombogenic and anti-inflammatory surfaces for ECLS, such as artificial placenta, pediatric artificial lung, and cardiopulmonary bypass. Over the past several years she has collaborated on developing NO emitting intravascular electrochemical sensors, NO emitting cardiac pacing leads, as well as NO emitting formulations for balloon inflation fluid to prevent inflammatory response, bacterial infections and clotting. She has also developed gas phase NO delivery devices for ECLS and inhalation.
