Lizbeth Cahuayme-Zuniga, MD, FIDSA, is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and serves as the Service Chief in the Division of Infectious Disease at the University of Michigan. She earned her medical degree from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru, did her residency in Internal Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, and then her Infectious Disease fellowship-immunocompromised track at the combined program between The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, where she served as Chief Fellow. She joined our faculty in 2023 and works as a clinician educator and a Transplant Infectious Disease clinician. She is actively involved in Global Health initiatives through Global REACH and the Center for Global Health Equity at the University of Michigan.
