Margarita Bauzá

Based in Detroit, Margarita, Bauzá is a native of Puerto Rico with undergraduate and graduate degrees from Michigan State University. 

 

An award-winning journalist, she has reported the news at daily newspapers in Michigan including The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press. She covered a wide range of beats, including K-12, higher education, the workplace, health care, airlines, casinos and downtown Detroit development.

 

Her syndicated work has appeared in newspapers across the country including The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune and USA Today. She has written for the University of Michigan Health System, Oakland University Beaumont School of Medicine, and Teaching Tolerance, a project of the Southern Poverty Law Center.

 

Bauzá served 13 years as an officer in the U.S. Army.
