Dr. Huang is an adult pulmonologist and physician-scientist at the University of Michigan, who holds joint appointments in the Department of Internal Medicine (Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine) and the Department of Microbiology/Immunology. She is an expert in cystic fibrosis and internationally recognized for her research expertise on host-microbiome interactions in asthma and COPD. Dr. Huang has led seminal studies in this area including NIH-supported multicenter investigations. Her research has identified novel links between the airway microbiome, disease phenotype and clinical outcomes including treatment response.
Dr. Huang leads an inter-disciplinary translational research program incorporating clinical research, laboratory-based work and computational methods. Dr. Huang completed her training in internal medicine at Yale and pulmonary and critical care fellowship at the University of California San Francisco. She has served on numerous working groups and committees, including for the National Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Thoracic Society and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
