    Research Overview

Regulation of Arousal States and Neural Correlates of Consciousness.- The research focuses on neural mechanisms underlying the generation of arousal states of sleep and wakefulness, as well as the neural regulation of the loss and resumption of consciousness with respect to general anesthesia.

    - Sleep and Pain Interactions.- The research focuses on the brain circuitry by which sleep disruption increases pain and paves the way for chronic pain.
