Dr. Zhou has been doing basic and translational cancer research for the past 15 years. Her research focuses on mechanistic study of interactions between guanine nucleotide–binding protein (G proteins) signaling pathways and DNA repair in in vitro and orthotopic models.

    Research Overview

My primary research interest is focusing on signaling pathways, especially GTP signaling pathways. I am interested in investigating the correlation between GTP signaling pathway and DNA repair, digging out the mechanism how GTP signaling pathway regulates DNA repair, and exploring the function of GTP signaling pathway-regulated DNA repair in physiological processes (lymphocyte or blood cell development) and health diseases. Together, I will test whether GTP can serve as a metabolic biomarker for radiation resistance in cancers but a radioprotector in normal tissues and a crucial factor in physiological processes (lymphocyte or blood cell development) to provide preclinical data to design new clinical trials, explore new disease prevention and treatments.
