Ruma Banerjee, PhD, has been honored with membership in the American Academy of Arts & Sciences for her scientific excellence and leadership. Ruma is the Vincent Massey Collegiate Professor of Biological Chemistry in the University of Michigan Medical School. Some of Ruma's previous honors include the ASBMB-Merck Award and the Pfizer Award in Enzyme Chemistry. She is an expert in the chemical biology of hydrogen sulfide signaling, regulation of mammalian sulfur metabolism in health and disease, and structural enzymology of human B12 trafficking proteins. Ruma and six other University of Michigan faculty members are among the 269 members elected to the academy in 2023.
Membership in the academy is considered one of the highest honors in the fields of science and the arts. Congratulations to Ruma for this well-deserved recognition!
