Research led by Associate Professor Phillip Vlisides, MD, is the cover study for the November issue of Anesthesiology.
The single-center, prospective, observational study tested neurophysiologic and cerebrovascular biomarkers in relation to postoperative neurocognitive outcomes and found that "preoperative posterior alpha power, frontal-parietal connectivity, and cerebral oximetry were not associated with cognitive function after noncardiac surgery."
Congratulations to Vlisides and co-authors (Michigan Anesthesiology department members bolded): Duan Li, PhD; Michael Maywood, MD; Mackenzie Zierau, BSN; Andrew P. Lapointe, PhD; Joseph Brooks, BS; Amy M. McKinney, MA; Aleda M. Leis, PhD, MS; Graciela Mentz, PhD; George A. Mashour, MD, PhD.
